Background
Nico is the cheerful sidekick to Kahu, a young would-be BeastHunter,
in the game Jade Cocoon II. Nico keeps the mood mostly wide-eyed
and cheerful with the ongoing commentary.
Inspiration
I have a very close friend, Jason
Martin, who had seen the opening illustrations when they
were first released in the US over a year ago. He emailed me &
laughed at how much the character really looked like me. hehe! In
December 01, Yaya also emailed me the same pics & reinterated
the same sentiment. You have to do this costume!! She is YOU! So
I saw how easy it was & went at it.
Creation
This costume is very simple in construction. Bright yellow fleece
was used for the dress, hat & slippers. Bright orange sparkly
dance spandex for the hat & wings. White beasty fur for the
fluff. A very simple summer dress pattern was used. For the Hat
& the Collar, I looked at existing patterns & created my
own. I covered slippers for the shoes. Bells, silk poinsetta petals
& feathers were added as finishing touches for the costume.
